As a young Colorado Springs dentist in 1984, I was thrown into the mercury in fillings controversy. I Studied the information the two conflicting camps presented regarding the use and potential health concerns of mercury containing “silver” fillings. I was interviewed on local television in Colorado Springs regarding the mercury controversy, as I had determined to no longer place mercury fillings. I came to the conclusion that the potential risks outweighed any benefits in using dental amalgum (mercury containing) fillings. I felt at that time that the controversy would rage on for 20 years. I was wrong it is still going strong in the year 2012.
To be an informed consumer and to see just how political the debate has become check out this video interview between Dr. Mercola and a well known anti-mercury crusader Mr. Charlie Brown. As a dentist in Colorado Springs who has not placed an amalgum in over 25 years I felt you needed to know for yourself in order to make good dental health decisions.
